aba, aba, aba!

i received the following text message from former deputy spokes ric saludo, cabinet secretary (as in secretary of the cabinet) july 9, 2005 at 8:12am.

"FOR MEDIA from the Cabinet Secretary, Ric Saludo: Greetings. In your reports, pls balance statements/grps calling for PGMA to resign by citing those opposing it &/or favoring constitutional processes. Among 2nd group are: (chorva, chorva...)"

it was a very loooong text, which also included the text message he sent the 10 cab secs who resigned irrevocably from the cabinet.

i only read the part i quoted here. when i got to the words "pls balance statements", i was already seeing red. the nerve! is he (and malacanang) dictating how we should write our stories?

but i was able to restrain myself. this is what i texted back:

"sir, you dont have to remind gma network of balanced reporting. we always make sure of that."

he texted back:

"thank you. that part wasnt for GMA but others that love the word 'resign'. mabuhay kayo."

hmp!

God Bless Us All!

It's interesting na Malacanang is now really pushing hard for amending the constitution. So I guess they now have embraced Ramos's strategy to divert people's attention from GLORIAGATE, eh?

Yeah right. They have their crony papers and stations anyway. Look at the philippine star.

Hi Tina. I am a GMA-7 fan. But having read your blog, somehow I was kinda disappointed that a reporter like you have this kind of article which seems to be bias. (I understand, it's your blog). What if this sort of article came out in public? Don't you think it will affect thefair and credible reporting of GMA-7?
Now everytime I see you reporting for GMA News, I know what's on the back of your mind. Just a thought. I love GMA-7.

some of you may not have understood what i actually wrote here. there should be no question about gma network's balanced and fair reporting. sometimes, repoeters get so frustrated bec we work all day on a story but it doesnt air bec we were not able to get the other side. that's how careful gma network is. kailangan ko bang ipaliwanag na ang punto ko rito eh hindi dapat nakikialam ang sinuman - ke opisyal pa siya ng gobyerno o hindi - sa kung paano namin gagawin ang trabaho namin. dahil alam namin kung paano ito gawin, at gawin ng tama. nasaan ang bias sa sinulat ko? and how will a blog like this affect the network's credibility? at kailangan bang ulit-ulitin ang implikasyon ng ganitong text mula sa isang opisyal ng malacanang, lalo pa sa panahong ito ng krisis pampulitika? o baka sugo ka ni saludo?

Duh...pakawala ni Saludo...golly...i'm just an ordinary guy. Ordinaryong tao na pagod na sa isang
malaking "political circus" na ito.

Besides, why can't the network feature or give emphasize that at the end of the day, mahihirap din ang talo (instead of getting the admin and opposition side).

Bakit ka magpapaapekto sa text ni Saludo when you know yourself know
na hindi ka nya pwedeng pakialaman?

By saying "it's your blog" parang sinabi mo na rin na "it's my life," wala kang pakialam!

Maria, makitid ang utak? Why?Dahil hindi magkapareho ang paniniwala natin?

PEACE!

Give me a break. The station's not balanced. They want to add more fuel to the fire... Of course, that means a juicier scoop! The media has a huge responsibility and it doesn't take a genius to figure out that they need constant reminders to adhere to this. Personal preferences should have no place in news reporting. Saludo's a smart man after all... Hang on, I look like I'm taking sides! Well I'm not reporting the news to the vulnerable public anyway.
